Military allegedly storm Ashaiman after soldier was killed

Since midnight, soldiers stormed Ashaiman, a suburb of Accra, and there have been reports of alleged brutality by some of them. This follows the alleged stabbing of their colleague by unknown assailants in the area.

In some videos circulating on social media, a young man is being flogged while a neighbor silently records the incident from a nearby window. In other visuals, residents are forced to roll on the muddy puddles of the early morning rains.

According to the Member of Parliament for Ashaiman, Ernest Norgbey, who confirmed the incident to Accra-based Starr FM, this is an "unofficial curfew." Reports suggest that those who disobey the military's orders are flogged and mistreated.

As of now, the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has not released a statement regarding the matter. Social media has been filled with reactions to the incident.
